Mom's Brisket

Ingredients:

  1. - brisket
  2. - flour for sprinkling over brisket
  3. - salt and pepper
  4. - paprika
  5. 1 - whole onion
  6. 1 - tomato
  7. 2 tablespoons - flour mixed with cold water shaken together in a small covered jar
  8. - Kitchen Bouquet
  9. - small onion or half onion chopped
  10. 1 tablespoons - chili sauce or ketchup
  11. - salt and pepper
  12. - paprika
  13. 1 - beef bouillon cube
  14. 1 cloves - garlic
  15. 1 teaspoons - wine optional, added by Helen
  16. 1 dashes - sugar optional, added by Helen
  17. -

Directions:

Wash brisket thoroughly and cut off fat. Sprinkle flour over it. Add salt, pepper and paprika. Add whole onion and tomato.

Mix Meat Gravy:
Shake together flour and water. Add Kitchen Bouquet, onion, chili sauce or ketchup and salt, pepper and paprika.

Pour meat gravy mixture over the brisket.

Add beef bouillon cube. Put clove of garlic on a toothpick and drop into gravy (to be taken out later).

If gravy cooks down, add more flour and water, shaken together in a jar as before.

Helen adds the teaspoon of wine and dash of sugar to this.
