Chocolate Waffles

Ingredients:

  1. 3 - large eggs separated
  2. 1/3 cups - butter
  3. 1/2 cups - sugar
  4. 3 squares - (1 oz. ea.) unsweetened chocolate melted and cooled
  5. 1/2 teaspoons - vanilla
  6. 1 1/2 cups - flour
  7. 1 tablespoons - baking powder
  8. 1/4 teaspoons - salt
  9. 1/4 teaspoons - cinnamon
  10. 1/4 teaspoons - nutmeg
  11. 1 1/2 cups - milk
  12. 1 quarts - ice cream
  13. 1 pints - fresh fruit or berries

Directions:

Cream together sugar and butter; beat in egg yolks, melted chocolate and vanilla.

Sift dry ingredients together and add alternately with milk to other mixture.

Beat egg whites until stiff and then fold into mixture.

Heat waffle iron and bake (use 1/4 cup batter for each waffle).

To serve, place scoops of ice cream on waffles and garnish with berries.
