Ingredients:
- 1/2 cups - shortening
- 1 cups - sugar
- 2 - eggs
- 2 cups - flour
- 2 teaspoons - baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoons - salt
- 1 cups - milk
- 1/3 cups - brown sugar
- 1/3 cups - butter
- 3/4 cups - flour
- 1 teaspoons - cinnamon
- 3 tablespoons - flour
- 1/4 teaspoons - salt
- 1/2 cups - milk
- 1/2 cups - butter
- 1/2 cups - powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoons - vanilla
Directions:
For Cake:
Cream together shortening and sugar. Add eggs and mix well. Alternately stir in flour, baking powder and salt with milk; stir just until moistened.
Pour batter into two greased and floured 8-inch round baking pans.
Combine topping ingredients, cutting butter into other ingredients. Sprinkle over tops of batter.
Bake at 350 degrees F for 30 to 35 minutes. Cool for 10 minutes, then remove to racks to completely cool.
Meanwhile, for Filling:
Stir together flour, salt and milk in a saucepan; heat to boiling, stirring and cooking until thickened, about 2-3 minutes. Refrigerate until chilled.
Cream together the butter and sugar until creamy; add vanilla and chilled milk mixture and beat until smooth and creamy, about 10 minutes.
Place one cake layer on a plate, top with cream filling, and place remaining cake layer on top. Store refrigerated.
