Ingredients:

  1. - cracked ice
  2. 2 ounces - gin about 1/4 cup
  3. 1 teaspoons - simple syrup
  4. 1 tablespoons - fresh lemon juice
  5. 5 ounces - chilled brut Champagne about 2/3 cup
  6. 1 - lemon slice garnish, optional

Directions:

Chill a cocktail shaker and a glass (a flute or a collins glass) in the freezer. Put ice in shaker; then add gin, syrup, and juice. Shake well.

Fill chilled glass half full of ice, then strain cocktail into glass. Top with Champagne and garnish with a lemon slice, if desired.

To make your own simple syrup, in a small saucepan bring to a boil equal amounts of water and sugar, stirring until the sugar is dissolved. Simmer for 5 minutes, then allow to cool. Store in a glass jar for up to 3 months.
