Holiday Fruit Drops

Ingredients:

  1. 3 1/2 cups - flour
  2. 1 teaspoons - baking soda
  3. 1 teaspoons - salt
  4. 1 cups - shortening
  5. 2 cups - brown sugar (packed)
  6. 2 - eggs
  7. 1/2 cups - buttermilk (OR 7 Tbsp milk with 2 tsp vinegar)
  8. 1 1/2 cups - coarsely chopped nuts
  9. 2 cups - halved candied cherries
  10. 2 cups - cut-up pitted dates

Directions:

Sift flour with baking soda and salt.

Mix shortening, sugar and eggs until creamy. Blend in flour mixture with buttermilk. Stir in nuts, cherries and dates.

Refrigerate 1 hour.

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Onto greased cookie sheet, drop rounded teaspoon of dough 2 inches apart. Top with nut half or cherry.

Bake for 8 to 10 minutes.
