Ingredients:
- 3 cups - flour
- 2 teaspoons - baking powder
- 1 teaspoons - salt
- 2 sticks - unsalted butter at room temp.
- 2 cups - sugar
- 4 - large eggs
- - zest of 2 lemons
- 1 cups - milk
- 3/4 cups - chopped walnuts
- 1/2 cups - freshly squeezed lemon juice
Directions:
Sift together flour, baking powder, and salt.
Using electric mixer, cream together butter and 1-1/2 cups of sugar. Add eggs one at a time, beating well. Add lemon zest.
Add dry ingredients alternately with milk, ending with dry ingredients (Do Not Overmix!).
Spoon mixture into two 9-x-4-inch bread pans. Bake at 350 degrees F for 45 minutes.
Mix lemon juice with remaining 1/2 cup sugar; set aside.
When done, turn bread out onto wire racks to cool. Punch holes in top and pour lemon juice mixture over breads. Let cool completely.
Freezes well.
